8 Steps To Having A Balanced Holiday Break

Congratulations on getting through the first half of the school year! The holidays are here and that includes a school break! This holiday season may be a lot different than before, but it is crucial for you to use this time wisely by preparing for your future! To find out how to make the most of your time this holiday season, check out the 8 Steps To Having a Balanced Holiday Break!

1. Create A Morning Routine
Having a morning routine will increase your productivity and help you stay focused throughout the day. Affirmations are an excellent way to set the tone for the day.

2. Schedule 15 Minutes of Leisure Reading
Reading can increase your understanding of your own identity, improves empathy and can give an insight into the perspectives of others. The knowledge gained from reading will better-equip you to tackle challenges. Leisure reading also helps improve your language and reading skills.

3. Physical Exercise
Exercise not only helps you to boost your immune system, making you more resilient to illnesses, but also improves your overall mood and emotional state. Physical exercise can be enjoyed alone or in groups to enjoy dancing, yoga, playing sports, and much more.

4. Virtually Connect with Friends, Family, and Network
Staying connected to people during these times is not the easiest but technology makes it possible! Support from those around you can reduce anxiety and stress and increase motivation and confidence. Make some time to refuel and connect with those who know you best!

5. Preparing for the Spring Semester
Write everything down! Be sure to note your calendar with upcoming deadlines, appointments, and important dates. Planning in advance will help you remain positive and ready for a successful new year.

6. Set Goals
Pick one goal you would like to focus on and accomplish in the upcoming year. What will it take for you to achieve it? Goal setting allows you to take control of your life’s direction. It is a process that starts with careful consideration of what you want to achieve, and ends with a lot of hard work to actually accomplish it.

7. Create and Update Resume
A resume allows you to highlight your accomplishments and experiences professionally and academically. Your resume will be submitted as a part of the college application and job interview process. Be sure to update your resume at least twice a year, and each time you apply for opportunities, to ensure your resume is up-to-date.

8. Research Career Fields and Salary
Do you know what career you would like to pursue? Having an idea of your career interest will make choosing a college much easier. Use your break to explore career options and salaries to create a college and career plan in advance. Be sure to explore Entrepreneurship and what it takes to start a business.
